Classroom Observation

At Psychiatry Studio, we recognize that a child’s mental health does not exist in isolation, it lives within relationships, routines, and learning environments.

Our @School CAP team is pleased to offer Classroom Observations as an additional way to support children and their school community. This process entails a classroom observation within the natural, educational setting to improve the overall learning experience. This observation focuses on classroom practices, classroom dynamics and environment, not individual student recommendations.

What We Observe:

  • The overall dynamic of the classroom

  • Classroom management

  • Staff/Student Interaction

  • Peer Interaction

  • Environmental factors impacting learning

  • Instructional strategies and approaches

When we look at the classroom through a broader lens, we can gain insight into how behaviors, social /emotional development and regulation, and educational team engagement intersect within the overall classroom environment.

Why It Matters:

Viewing students as a whole in their classroom environment allows us to provide feedback to the educational team about how students engage with peers, work independently, and develop as learners.

The Outcome:

Following the observation, our clinician will provide a summary of our findings

which include;

  • Targeted insights to strengthen instructional practices and promote a supportive, regulation-informed classroom climate

  • Provide feedback when we see a student with particularly concerning presentation that would benefit from additional services

  • We can follow up in 3 months to reassess the classroom
